Citrus Reminds Residents of Septic Permitting
Citrus County, Fla. — Effective December 15, 2025, repairs or modifications to existing septic systems on all lot sizes in the Priority Focus Areas (PFA) within the Basin Management Action Plans (BMAPs) areas will need to install an enhanced nitrogen-reducing system.
The requirements will affect those living in the Crystal River/Kings Bay and Chassahowitzka Springs Groups areas. Applications received on or after December 15, 2025, must comply with the nitrogen-reducing requirements. Applications submitted prior to December 15, 2025, are not subject to the new requirements.
