Biomedical Waste Program

Citrus County Health Department

The Department of Health has primary authority and responsibility for facilities that generate, transport, store, or treat biomedical waste through processes other than incineration. Some examples of these facilities include hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, tattoo shops, dental clinics, and body piercing salons. The biomedical waste program protects healthcare workers, public sanitation employees, and the public from potentially hazardous waste material.
