The Florida Department of Health in Citrus County (DOH-Citrus) provides regulatory services, including permitting and inspections, for the following types of food service establishments:
- Schools
- Group care facilities
- Recreational camps
- Fraternal and civic organizations
- Bars and lounges that do not prepare potentially hazardous food
- Detention facilities
Mobile food units that have their commissary on the premises of one of the above described facilities and temporary food events that occur on the premises of one of the above described facilities are regulated by the DOH. Food hygiene rules and regulations are dictated by Florida Administrative Code Chapter 64E-11.
To file a complaint for any of the above listed facilities, email CitrusEHPermits@FLhealth.gov with "Food Hygiene Permits" in the subject line of your email.
Other Food Establishment Complaints
All other food service establishments are regulated by either the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) or the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DACS).
For complaints about restaurants, bars that prepare potentially hazardous foods, country clubs, homeowners associations that advertise and serve food to the public and mobile food units, please contact the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) at 850-487-1395 or you may file complaint online through their online complaint form. You may also mail them at Department of Business and Professional Regulation, 2601 Blair Stone Road, Tallahassee, FL 32399-1027.
For complaints about grocery stores, convenience stores, bakeries, coffee shops, meat and seafood markets, juice and smoothie bars and certain mobile food units selling only prepackaged or non-potentially hazardous food items, please contact the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Services (DACS) at 1-800-HELP-FLA (1-800-435-7352) or 1-800-FL-AYUDA (1-800-352-9832) or you may file a complaint online through their online complaint form. You may also mail them at Florida Department of Agriculture and Consume Services, Plaza Level 10, The Capitol, 400 S. Monroe St., Tallahassee, FL 32399-0800.
