Food Hygiene

Citrus County Health Department

The Florida Department of Health in Citrus County (FDOH) provides regulatory services, including permitting and inspections, for the following types of food service establishments:

  • Schools
  • Group care facilities
  • Recreational camps
  • Fraternal and civic organizations
  • Bars and lounges that do not prepare potentially hazardous food
  • Detention facilities

Mobile food units that have their commissary on the premises of one of the above described facilities and temporary food events that occur on the premises of one of the above described facilities are regulated by the FDOH. Food hygiene rules and regulations are dictated by Florida Administrative Code Chapter 64E-11.

To file a complaint for any of the above listed facilities, email askeh@doh.state.fl.us with "Food Hygiene Permits" in the subject line of your email.

Restaurant and Other Food Establishment Complaints

All other food service establishments are regulated by either the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) or the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DACS).
