DOH-Citrus Reminds International Travelers about Its Travel Health Program

Citrus County, Fla. — As the holiday season nears, the Florida Department of Health in Citrus County (DOH-Citrus) reminds international travelers about its Travel Health Program.

For anyone planning to travel internationally, DOH-Citrus encourages them to book a consultation through the travel health program first. DOH-Citrus staff will advise the traveler about specific diseases and health concerns based on their international destination. The specialist can also provide the traveler with information on how to best protect his or her health.

Before DOH-Citrus launched its program in April 2026, residents planning international trips were required to travel two or three hours to receive required health services. This program allows them to receive those same services closer to home.

Travelers must pay for all services, as well as a $100 consultation fee, prior to service. The consultation visit is provided by appointment only.
