The Florida Department of Health in Citrus County (DOH-Citrus) continually monitors the health of our community by measuring and evaluating a variety of data points. Available community health data is frequently compiled in various topic-related reports. This data is used to guide program and service outreach efforts in our community.

Programs and initiatives include Diabetes Empowerment Education Program and the Florida Healthy Babies Initiative


Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP)

The Community Health Improvement Plan, or CHIP, is a community-based plan created by the Citrus Health Improvement Partnership. First convened in 2015, the Partnership is a group of community leaders who create and implement the CHIP. Working together, these representatives from both government and non-profit organization toward creating a healthier community. Based on the most recent Community Health Needs Assessment, conducted in 2023, a new CHIP plan was published in 2025.
