Body piercing is an invasive procedure that presents the potential for infection. It can result in infections of the pierced site, especially if aftercare procedures are not followed.
Annual inspections are conducted of Body Piercing facilities in Citrus County to prevent the spread of blood borne disease. The inspections are done using prescribed minimum sanitary and safety requirements related to the design, operation, and maintenance of body-piercing salons and temporary establishments.
Body piercers are also required to obtain annual training in safety, sterilization, and sanitation.
