Aging and chronic disease can impact a person’s sense of balance and ability to move safely and comfortably. A Matter of Balance is an evidence-based program designed for older adults who have concerns about falling or who have experienced a fall in the past.
Classes are held for two hours, once a week, over eight weeks. Through guided, hands-on activities, participants practice strategies, build strength and balance, and connect with peers in a supportive environment. The class’s goals are to improve confidence in managing falls, increase physical activity, and reduce social limitations caused by fear of falling.
Classes are led by trained DOH-Citrus staff members. Anyone who has fallen in the past, or who has restricted their activities because of falling concerns should attend. The workshop will focus on improving balance, flexibility, and strength.
Pre-registration is required. For more information or to join the waiting list, call 352-527-6072.
